Rabbit leads officers on low speed chase

A rabbit in the UK successfully evaded officers for twenty minutes leading them to ask for assistance from members of the public.

After spending 10 minutes fruitlessly trying to grab the animal - even resorting to using their jackets as matador capes in a bid to snare the creature - they had to call on eight members of the public to help out.

Pc Jackson said: "After several failed attempts trying to grab the rabbit, we removed our coats to try and cover it with a bullfighting technique. Again this failed.

"Pet-loving members of the public who were passing by saw us struggling and rushed to our assistance. Now, with 10 pairs of hands at the ready, the rabbit's time on the run was coming to an end."

The officers and members of the public pursued it for about 200 yards before it was finally caught.

Pc Jackson added with a smile: "Inquiries are ongoing into unconfirmed reports that Bunny had an accomplice called Clyde who assisted in the hare-brained escape idea."

Did it not occur to these officers to use a carrot? Everyone knows that bunnies love carrots.

Bad Bank Robber

A bank robber in Ohio was caught after he got stuck between the double doors while trying to leave with his loot.

Bystanders said the man entered the National City Bank branch Tuesday morning in Dayton and handed a note to a teller demanding money, the Dayton Daily News reported Tuesday.

However, bank employees activated a security system as the man attempted to leave the bank and he became trapped in between the interior and exterior doors of the bank, witnesses said. He attempted to break through the exterior door but was interrupted by the arrival of a Dayton police officer, who took the man into custody.

Oops.

Authorities save lizards from the dinner table

Authorities in Malaysia rescued 2,300 endangered lizards that were being kept in cages to be made into dinner.

The clouded monitor lizards were found in cages at a storage facility holding live and dead animals that were destined for cooking pots in Malaysia and abroad, said an official with the state wildlife department.

The lizards, which are about 5 feet long, will be released into the wild soon, the official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make public statements.

Again. I think I'll stick to Chicken and Beef.

Police looking for sex-doll thief

Australian police are searching for a man who has been stealing sex dolls named "Jungle Jane" and having his way with them before abandoning them in the alley.

"It's totally bizarre. It's a real concern that someone like that is out on the street," said one of the owners of the adult sex shops in Cairns in northern Queensland state.

"He has been taking the dolls out the back and blowing them up and using the dolls and leaving them in the alley," the owner, who gave the name of Vogue, told the Cairns Post newspaper.

The police have the offenders DNA and fingerprints and hope to have a suspect soon.

Police stop five and six year old from eloping to Africa

German police stopped a trio of youngsters planning a romantic elopement in Africa. The couple (she is six and he is five) were spotted at a train station with their official witness (who is seven) by police. The trio packed their bags with swimsuits and sunglasses and hiked about half a way to the train station. The trio did not however have any money or passports.

Officers persuaded the children they would not get far without tickets and money, but consoled them with a free tour of the police station, where they were shortly picked up by relieved parents.

Although any marriage plans have been put on hold for now, police did not altogether rule out the possibility of an African wedding.

"They can still put their plan into action at a later date," AFP quoted the spokesman as saying.

This will make a great story for their parents to tell when they're teenagers. I hope they enjoyed their tour of the police station and didn't get in too much trouble for running away and didn't give their parents too big a scare.

Man chooses jail over paying $1.57 for soda

A man in California caught stealing a soda was given a choice. Pay for the soda or leave.

Police responding to the report of a theft recently say the 27-year-old man appeared drunk. An employee told officers the man had taken a cup from the counter, filled it and began drinking.

The man who had $70 in his pocket refused to do either so the policeman cuffed him and hauled him off to prison.

That's a smart one.

It's always a good idea to keep track of your keys

Police in Dearborn Mi responded to a call today by a man who had lost his handcuff key.

He had handcuffed his wife to his bed (in a good way, not in a bad way) and realized too late that he'd lost his handcuff key.

The police were able to free her using a basic universal key.

The police spokesman admitted the incident had "comedic value" but that no crime was committed.

The poor wife. Think she'll let him use the handcuffs again?
